So, Hear Me Out.

Sunday, October 9, 2016

I want to take a moment to talk about something that I have never heard mentioned before.  Something that has long been in my heart to bring to the table.  It is okay to not read the bible and pray together.  This makes me sound like a pagan momma.  So, hear me out.

As you pursue togetherness, will you promise to make spiritual acts of worship together as much a progression as physical oneness?  The christian dating culture will likely challenge our opinion on this.  However, prayer and time spent in God's word is sacred time.  Time spent seeking the Lord draws you closer to His heart.  This momma's fear is that it can draw you too close, too fast to your main squeeze, too.  And my fear is that it may not necessarily be to his heart.  Immature spiritual connectedness has this rather troubling way of blindsiding us into attraction.  Attraction on all levels.  The temptation is to become consumed on a spiritual level so quickly that other (crazy important) aspects of relationships (aka: Do I even like this guy?) are easily overlooked.

So, sit under the same teaching.  Be a part of a God fearing community of believers.  Pray for one another.  Seek the Lord individually and in a Bible Study setting.  Be mindful, though, that spiritual connectedness is sacred.  Something that is absolutely foundational.  It is an all consuming type of togetherness that is best saved for when you know you've found the one that will wear his promise to you on his finger for eternity.
