We met in the last year of the last century. That sounds
dramatic. We met in 1999. He was the quarter back and I was so not
a cheerleader. That fall, between passing periods, he asked me if I would
"go out" with him. A decade later, he became my
husband.
That is the snippet of our story. Our
story, though not likely an overly exciting tale, is one of steadfastness. It speaks love volumes of how God can weave together
two people’s stories in the most refining, beautiful of ways.
We dated for a decade. We have often
joked that someday we’d write the book, “A Decade of Dating.” Seventeen years later, this seems like the craziest
time to try.
During the month of October, my hope is to write about what a decade of dating
had to teach. Consider it the open
letter that I hope my kids will keep tucked in their back pockets.
I hope you’ll join me.
Day 1 of 31 of the #write31days challenge
This is such a great basis for a #write31days series! My husband and I were together...umm...8 months...before we got married, haha, so your story sounds like the complete opposite of my own experience! We met 8 years ago, so we've got a few years to go before we hit a decade yet, but I'm looking forward to all the memories and 'growing up' that can happen in a whole decade!
