A Stairwell Collage.

Have you ever wondered what happens when this girl is left with super tall, blank walls after a bitty basement renovation?  Seventy-three frames, my friends.  Seventy-three frames.
It took a couple of months and many thrift store adventures to gather all of the frames.  I kept my eye open for gold frames, for the most part.  Occasionally an interesting non-gold frame caught my eye and I bought those, too.  In the end, I had right around ninety frames.  We made a preliminary layout.
The collage is right inside the back door, which is why we integrated hooks for our jackets.  Hanging seventy-three frames and five coat hooks while balancing on scaffolding is no joke.  It tested our ever-loving patience.  Old frames are cheap, but they are rickety and non-uniform and dirty.  Cleaning each picture frame inside and out was more time consuming than I bargained for.  Framing the kids' artwork and photos was the fun part, but again, very time consuming.  It turned out better than we could have imagined though, like most hard things in life.
The anchor of the gallery is the Peppermint Moss Abstract Canvas by my ever talented friend, Lindsay, hung on a peacock feather stenciled wall in metallic craft paint.
This little farmhouse of ours is slowly starting to feel wholly us.
