Happy Birthday, Ila!

Our baby girl turned one today!  That means that she had her very last weekly photo.

 

Just like her big sister, we simultaneously started her monthly photo.  

Boy did those fifty-two weeks fly by!  Although we are so excited to see what her second year brings, we are holding on to every bit of baby that we can.  I mean.

We actually took her photos yesterday, so we could print them in time for her first birthday party today.  A triple batch of potato soup, bread, and grandpa's famous baked goods were on the menu.  Our home was filled with family and friends all afternoon to celebrate Ila.  It was a simple gathering, one of my favorites in a long while.  The birthday girl was the main attraction, no doubt.

She was timid with her cake.  She daintily removed and ate each letter first.  Then she got all up in it.  And then she touched the camera lens.

She may have eaten cake and ice cream today.  And she may cruise around like a speed demon and try to be fiercely independent.  But she'll always be my Ila baby.

 

Happy Birthday gorgeous girl.  You are wildly funny and just about the sweetest cuddler there is.  Thanks for being mine.
