'Round and 'Round.

The other day I heard a mash-up contest on a local radio station.  The essence of the daily contest is to listen to a mash-up of three different songs playing simultaneously.  The person that deciphers what three songs first, wins.  I have had a similar sort of mash-up playing in my mind since church this morning.

On our drive in this morning, my girls and I listened to the new Civil Wars album.  Their track, Dust to Dust, is hauntingly beautiful.  One of the lines that seems to wriggle its way into my mind is, "Let me hold your hand and dance 'round and 'round the flames."

Concluding today's church service, we sang Hillsong United's Oceans (Where Feet May Fail), which is equally as beautiful.  Yet again, a single line resonated with me.  It says, "Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander."

Both lines have been beating through my mind since.  I think it is because they both seem to be so life applicable in these dry days.  Gosh, I can give you page after page of things I have to be thankful for.  Yet, don't we all have that basket, that handful of things that just belong in that fire?  I sure do.  I have doubts and worry and anxiousness and all sorts of piddly things.  Oh, to lite them, burn them, breath in the smoke as I dance 'round and 'round them.  Sounds glorious.  I am a wanderer though.  Many times for the good, but often to a fault.  To stop, to listen, and to go deeper, these things my heart so desires.

This mash-up seems aptly timed.  So many things to go a wandering after at this very second.  My mind is reeling.  I am building that fire though.  The smoke is laughable, hardly flame enough for s'mores, but my prayer is that I'll be dancing, dancing soon.
