Newborn/Family Photo Shoot.

Sunday, March 3, 2013

A week ago we got our best peach and navy on and had the wonderful Ryan, the man behind Ryan Davis Photography, over for a bitty family/newborn photo shoot.  Here are our favorites.
It was fun to have a photo shoot at our house.  I have to admit that it is a wee bit more stressful than taking them at a studio.  In the end though, they feel a bit more personal than Ona's newborn shoot.  I mean we will probably have that red fruit bowl forever, ya know?

Who knew wrangling a toddler and a newborn would be so tough?  Miss Ona was definitely not on her keeping her bow on and smiling A game.  After a bit of awake time, Ila slept like a dream.  If you are thinking of having newborn photos taken at your house, here are a few things that we would have done differently and might help you along the way.  We wish we would have thought a bit more about where exactly we would like to take photos.  In hindsight, we wish we had taken photos in the nursery.  In the rush of trying to keep a sleeping newborn sleeping and a crazy toddler from running into every photo, we didn't think about locations.  We also wish we would have thought a bit more about poses.  The only pose we had really thought of was the family on the bed pose.  Next time we will do a bit more research on family posing, as well as sibling photo posings.  Oh, and pray.  Ha.  Not really, but I think that it is hit or miss on whether you'll have a cooperative newborn and/or toddler.  We tried everything, but our normally fairly cooperative toddler was awol.

Okay, who has been taking newborn photos lately?  Any other hints?
