A Crib Skirt.

Happy New Year!  I don't know about you, but I am ecstatic to see what is in store for 2013.  Are you a resolution maker?  I have never been one to set a goal at the beginning of the year.  I guess I just roll with the punches and make little goals, like this, along the way.  However, I did have a bitty seemingly massive goal to achieve over our winter shutdown.  It really isn't a massive project, just one that I have been working on for six weeks or so and I am sooo not a long project type of gal.  One of the last things that I needed to complete for Ona's big girl room was a crib skirt.  I saw this tutorial awhile back and it had me at hello.  Like most everything, I followed it loosely and wound up with a similar style crib skirt with, what I like to think of as, Ona changes.
I took my favorite big sister out shopping for fabric and we picked out three rather random designs.  After I got going I realized that I needed a fourth layer.  I choose a scalloped lace for a bit of added vintage flair.
I would estimate that it took me around fifteen hours to complete, which is waaaay longer than I thought.  However, I think it ties some of the random artwork around Ona's crib together and you know I am a sucker for all things handmade and sentimental.
One of my favorite things is how it plays off of the colors in the butterfly artwork to the right of the crib.
The mix of the modern rug + curtains and the old fashion lace isn't for everyone, but we are digging it. To us it seems very Ona.
The light was so good, but my little gal wasn't having it.  I promise she loves it more than these photos indicate.
These have to be some of my favorite photos capturing my definitely-has-her-own-attitude toddler.
Maybe she was just over the bow?

Hooray for finished projects, especially those that involve Miss Sewing Machine.
