...and I'm still looking forward to you.

These words have been resounding within my <3 this week.

The hubs and I have been attending a couples study [based on the book Creating an Intimate Marriage by Jim Burns] and it has evoked many good conversations about our marriage, as well as marriage in general.  Over the past week, I have been taking a few moments each day to reflect on my marriage.  My marriage is the very thing that I work hardest at in my life, but is absolutely, without-a-doubt my favorite thing about this very same life.

I have been a fan of Evan Wickham for quite some time, but this past week I have probably listened to his You are Mine twenty times.  The lyrics are overwhelming simplistic, but yet every time I hear them I can't help but heartsmile in agreement.  The most striking statement in the whole song is this,
"You're all I've been looking for, and I am still looking forward to you."

I wholeheartedly believe that if one looks forward to their spouse ::looks forward to hearing about their day, looks forward to their silly jokes, looks forward to their presence, looks forward to holding their hand, looks forward to their friendship, looks forward to their quirks, looks forward to their everything::, their marriage will be so much better.  I guess it is simply the theory of Six Flags... a child-like excitement over your  front row seat on raging bull spouse that oozes out in all that you do.

I am by no means an expert when it comes to marriage and still have a ridiculously mind boggling amount to learn.  However, this is one thing that has and will continue to resound in my heart as a foundational principle for my marriage.

Oh yeah, and sweet hubs of mine ::after 4,189 days of being by your side, I am soooo looking forward to you.::

p.s. Here's the link to You are Mine by Evan Wickham.
